Housing Authority wishes to study and gain community feedback

Betty Gallo, Vice Chair of the Truro Housing Authority, shares their board’s unanimous recommendation to postpone any action to allow further research and public input. The Housing Authority plans to work collaboratively with the Select Board and other town committees. The Select Board members agree on the need for more detailed analysis and community involvement before proceeding.

Feedback from June 27 Walsh Property Community Forum and Online Survey

Wishes, Worries, and Suggestions

Following a community forum and subsequent online survey conducted by the Town of Truro in mid-2019, this report synthesizes public feedback regarding the future development of the newly-acquired Walsh property.

Participants outlined their "wishes," which emphasized a transparent, inclusive master planning process, diverse mixed-income housing, and preserving open space alongside recreational trails. Conversely, "worries" focused on the potential financial burdens, tax increases, risk of overdevelopment, and community conflict.

They also requested thorough public information sharing and varied virtual and physical involvement strategies to lower barriers to community participation.
